The members of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Tufts Children's Hospital in Boston provide care for children with chronic renal diseases of various causes.
Our team works hard to optimize the length of time that children with these diseases can avoid dialysis and/or kidney transplant, although we do offer both chronic hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis for patients who require renal replacement. In some cases, we are able to avoid dialysis and perform pre-emptive kidney transplants through our Renal Transplant program.
Our doctors work with a team of specialists to provide the best care for your child. We have a nutritionist to counsel our patients on appropriate diets. We also work closely with our colleagues in Pediatric Endocrinology if there is notable growth restriction as a result of the kidney disease. Our goal is always to optimize the quality of life for our patients.
